(kortare version...)

1:a rehab, 19:e juni, minors
Citat:
...after the rocky first inning, he really settled in and started looking like the Mr Hughes Yankee fans know and love. He blew hitter after hitter away, making many look foolish and wasting few pitches in the process. He threw just 8 pitches each in the 2nd and 3rd innings, then struck out 2 of the 3 batters he faced in a quick 4th inning. He was rolling, dominating, and you could see it in his body language out on the mound. But then in the 5th, Phil seemed to lose it.

Bryan Hoch reported that he was sitting 92-93 with the fastball, topping out at 95. That’s the good news. The bad news is Buster Olney reported that he wasn’t able to maintain his velocity, and was topping out at 89 by the 3rd inning.

2:a rehab, 25:e juni, AA
Citat:
In terms of command, Hughes was having a difficult time finding the strike zone for most of the evening. Of his 72 total pitches, only 42 were thrown for strikes though the lousy weather may have exacerbated the lack of control. Although he only walked two on the evening, most of the hitters did enjoy favorable counts.

As for the velocity, Hughes was topping out at 92-93 miles per hour although a fair share of his pitches were closer to the 89-90 mark. He certainly didn’t seem as revitalized as he did in his last rehab start against the Cyclones where he was supposedly hitting 95 on the radar. That said, he also didn’t appear quite has helpless as he looked during his first three starts of this season for the Yankees during which time he was experiencing an inflamed shoulder resulting in “dead arm.”

After the game, Phil Hughes commented on how he felt. “It just feels like the ball is coming out pretty good right now, so that’s encouraging.

3:e rehab, 29:e juni, AA
Citat:
Most importantly, Hughes had good velocity throughout the game, sitting constantly between 92-94

I am not sure about his use of his secondary offerings today, but the important sign is that Hughes was effective, had good velocity, and was able to sustain that velocity through 6+ innings. As a bonus, he was efficient with his pitches, something that has been a problem for him recently

Citat:
Hughes made his second straight rehab start for the Double-A Trenton Thunder on Wednesday and had a very impressive outing. Hughes’ velocity was consistently clocked in at 93-94 mph range as he struck out eight in an 88 pitch 6 1/3 outing. The rehabbing right-hander trying to come back from “dead arm” gave up three hits and only one walk inducing 20 swinging strikes. Hughes was accurate and efficient throwing just 32 pitches through the first three hitless innings, and throwing 42 strikes out of his first 54 pitchers.

Later in the day at Yankee Stadium, GM Brian Cashman seemed to suggest that Hughes would probably get one more rehab start before joining the team. “It wouldn’t hurt for him to get one more outing,” said Cashman. “The 85 pitches he threw today in Double-A is the equivalent of 70 at the major league level in terms of workload and effort and stress – so it wouldn’t hurt to get him farther.”
Pitch count för Hughes inatt är runt 100.

Indians är fortfarande först i Central och har en bra bullpen. Closern Chis Perez borde varit tillbaka i laget.
