Preview Cercle Brugge v Lokeren

Cercle hope to keep the momentum up when they play host to relegation-threatened Sporting Lokeren at the Jan Breydel Stadium with a 20.00 kick-off. Saturday’s opponents have more point than basement boys Roeselare and they have two games in hand. As Lokeren Chairman Lambrecht put it recently: “Each and every point counts and actually a win is all that matters,!”

Lokeren´s new coach in charge is Ferrera and he has been pretty successful so far, leading his new team to victories over KV Mechelen and Westerlo. Ferrera will sign a new two-year extension to his contract, if Lokeren manage to stay up in the Belgian top flight. They will be without Smajic who has sustained an injury.

Cercle scored a late-gasp equaliser in this season’s reverse encounter. Jelle Vossen will never forget the match as he was stretchered off with a broken leg. He has meanwhile recovered from surgery and the youngster looked to become a first-team regular when he picked up a stomach virus. He may make a return to action on Saturday.

Cercle have amassed a stunning 18 points form their last seven league games. Manager Glen De Boeck stated at a press conference that he expects full commitment from his players in the final matches of the season as well. The players were given the Sunday and the Monday off as they prepare for five matches in three weeks.

Glen De Boeck has a near-full strength squad to select from. Gombami, Claessens and Wang are all ruled out with injuries. Boi and Vidarsson is one booking away from suspension, while captain Denis Viane will serve a two-match ban if he is shown a yellow card on Saturday.
